Word for the Day – Christ’s Redemptive Passion

“CHRIST’S REDEMPTIVE PASSION”

Isaiah 53:1-12

INTRODUCTION: Text is the same passage the Ethiopian eunuch was read- ing when returning to his own country, after having been to Jerusalem to worship.

Acts 8:32-35 “The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.”

A. The eunuch was returning empty because the Jew’s religion was one of form and ritualism (God knew how empty he was.) God knows if you are too!

1. Then God sent Phillip, the evangelist, along! God still sends some- one along that He can use. I like when If feel I’m on a Divine appointment!

B. When these verses were explained by Phillip (v.35), the eunuch accepted Christ as his Savior. Why was the enuch so moved?
